Description

Sindoori is an Ayurvedic herb used to treat dyslipidemia, diarrhoea, and hepatitis since ancient times. People take Sindoori seeds for diabetes, diarrhea, fevers, fluid retention, heartburn, malaria, and hepatitis. They also use it as an antioxidant and bowel cleanser. Sindoori is sometimes put directly on the affected area to treat burns and vaginal infections and to repel insects.

1. Bhāvaprakāśa Nighaṇṭu – Sindūrī: Dravya-paricaya

Sanskrit Śloka

सिन्दूरी तिक्तकषाया रञ्जनी रक्तशोधिनी।
कुष्ठकण्डूविनाशिनी व्रणरोपणकारिणी॥

Meaning

Sindūrī is bitter–astringent, imparts color, purifies blood, alleviates skin diseases and itching, and promotes wound healing.
