Ankol -In Ayurveda the roots and the fruits are used for treatment of rheumatism, and hemorrhoid. In traditional system of medicine, it is used as laxative, astringent, pungent, purgative, alleviates spasms, anthelmintic, emetic, antiprotozoa, hypoglycemic. It also Helps to reduces blood pressure when taken orally due to its vasodilator activity.

अङ्कोलो वातशूलघ्नः शोथघ्नः कफनाशनः।
बाह्यलेपप्रयोगेण ग्रन्थिशूलविनाशनः॥

Meaning

Aṅkola alleviates Vāta-induced pain, reduces swelling, pacifies Kapha, and—especially when applied externally—resolves nodules and painful swellings.
