Mayurshikha seeds

Mayurshikha seeds is astringent, haemostatic, ophthalmic, parasiticide and poultice. Mayurshikha seeds is used in the treatment of bloody stool, haemorrhoid bleeding, uterine bleeding, leucorrhoea and diarrhoea. As a parasiticide it is very effective against Trichomonas It is used in the treatment of bloodshot eyes, blurring of vision, cataracts and hypertension, the seed also has an antibacterial action, inhibiting the growth of Pseudomonas.

Classical hallmark:

Pradhāna Granthi–Apaci–Gulmahara dravya — especially valued in granthi (glandular swellings), apaci (scrofula/lymphadenopathy), gulma, śotha, and Kapha–Meda–dominant disorders; stem bark is the principal medicinal part.

Śvetacāru is traditionally considered milder and more cooling than Rakta-Kañcanāra.

Sanskrit Śloka

कञ्चनारः कषायस्तु कफमेदोविनाशनः।
ग्रन्थ्यपाच्यर्बुदेष्वेष प्रयोज्यो भिषजां मतः॥

Meaning

Kañcanāra—by implication including Śveta-Kañcanāra (Mayūrśikhā)—is astringent, destroys Kapha and Meda, and is indicated in glandular swellings, apaci, and tumors.

कञ्चनारकषायस्तु ग्रन्थ्यर्बुदनिवारणः।

Meaning

Kañcanāra bark—applied as decoction or paste—alleviates glandular swellings, tumors, and Kapha-induced inflammation; this applies equally to the white-flowered variety.

Sanskrit Śloka

कञ्चनारकषायोऽयं गुल्मग्रन्थिविनाशनः।

Meaning

Kañcanāra decoction destroys abdominal masses and glandular swellings, reduces Kapha and Meda, and alleviates pain and edema—properties shared by Śvetacāru.
